I love to draw Murray, both for his build and his gestures. His unique way of moving creates subtle shifts between his active and passive sides that are incredibly challenging. It’s also difficult not to get seduced into drawing too much anatomical information with him too. Here are some of my efforts from the morning session, with poses of 5 min, 1 min, 10 min and 20 min.

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been to life drawing, and I was itching to get back to it. I love to draw Ben who gave us great gestures, as always.

There are drawing days when my hand just doesn’t cooperate. What a lousy morning I had! I have posted a few sketches nonetheless. All of these are short poses (1-10 min) of the model Amanda — the 15-20 minute are now in the recycling.
The long pose this afternoon was a little better. I played around with cross-hatching, which is still rough but improving. That’s the drawing at the top, and the model was Claudette.

I attended my first outing with the Ontario Plein Air Society on January 2nd. We went to the Scottsdale Farm on a VERY cold day. I had so many layers on, I looked like a snowman myself. I never thought anyone could paint on a day like that but surprised myself by completing this small study. I had started another larger painting, but the lighting conditions changed drastically, from bright and sunny to cloudy and I had to put it aside.

Here are a few drawings from last night, one of the rare Thursday nights I can attend the TSA. Michaela did a wonderful job, exerting herself mightily by holding tough poses.
