The Ravine

Last Monday, I went out to the Ravine and did a quick painting sketch of this bright yellow flowering tree. I aimed to keep it loose and lively, trying to capture the gesture of the composition first and colour relations second. Here are both the first lay-in and the final sketch. I spent about an hour on it.
